Softball Action 4-23-10

Small wonder why the 2006 12U team won two of three tournaments and lost only one game all summer--check out the pitching efforts by Emily Walters, Sarah Brunner, Jen Kennedy and Lauren Bilinski in this Record Eagle story from April 23rd.  Congratulations to those current and former Waves pitchers and current and former Waves players Laura Cizek, Heather Larsen and Colleen Roddy.

TC West      17 3

Elk Rapids      4 0

Traverse City West swept a twinbill from Elk Rapids, winning 17-4 and 3-0.

Lauren Bilinski struck out seven in the one-hit opening-game win.  Laura Cizek added three runs, a triple and four RBIs, Katie Kaminski and Allison Friar each scored three runs and Kelly Flynn had a pair of hits and two runs.  In the nightcap, Jen Kennedy struck out four and surrendered only two hits. Rachael Barnes had a triple and two runs scored.

TC St. Francis      6 2

Kingsley      4 3

Michaela Lehn eighth-inning double drove in the winning run as Kingsley won 3-2 to salvage a split with Traverse City St. Francis.

The Gladiators won the opener 6-4.

Lehn's double drove in Brittany Nickerson, spoiling a 10-strikeout performance by TCSF's Sarah Brunner. Kerrie Kelley picked up the win for the Stags (2-6), who open up Northwest Conference play at home Tuesday against Buckley.

Brunner and Heather Larsen each had two hits.  Colleen Roddy had two hits in the opener for the Gladiators (3-3), and Emily Walters picked up the win.  Kingsley's Kasha Tulppa was 3-for-3 with two doubles, Lexie Benton doubled and Tori Young scored two runs.
